The Virgin Voyages cruise line began their first voyage from Miami, Florida to the Bahamas with a colorful and vibrant ship called Scarlet Lady. This new company is looking to revolutionize the cruise industry by offering guests more than just a vacation.

It’s unclear if it was an unfortunate turn of circumstances or just having passengers wait longer for something special, but Virgin Voyages’ Lady Scarlet finally sailed from Miami today after almost 20 months of waiting.
When the pandemic struck in March of last year, the ship was only weeks away from making her debut, so was the wait worth it?
It’s the cruise line that isn’t quite a cruise line, the cruise ship that goes out of its way to do things just a little bit differently. Although there is no major swimming pool or dining area, there is a tattoo parlor aboard. And the good news is that she’s here in Miami, proving that the wait was well worth it.
The MerMaiden’s Journey
Virgin wouldn’t be Virgin if there wasn’t something special planned for Scarlet Lady’s first-ever voyage from Miami. In reality, today’s trip is the first-ever journey aboard the ship that is neither restricted or referred to as a preview voyage. The Mermaiden Voyage, according to the cruise company, will be something special:
“Scarlet Lady will provide her Sailors with a once-in-a-lifetime experience, full of surprises and pleasures, mermaid-forward events woven throughout the journey, and, of course, mermaids and mermen celebrating with passengers,” says the company.

Scarlet Lady leaves today from PortMiami on the first of four- and five-night Caribbean itineraries after spending some time in the United Kingdom giving passengers staycation cruises through the British isles. Virgin Voyages has gone out of its way not just to stand apart, but also to demonstrate to visitors how a yacht-like experience can be enjoyed for a fraction of the cost:
“Virgin businesses have been delivering innovation to sectors for more than 50 years,” says Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group. Virgin Voyages is forging its own way, providing a unique take on cruise travel with a mix of the familiar and a good dose of Virgin satisfaction.”

In the following months, the yacht will provide a wide range of trips. The Beach Club at Bimini is a signature event that includes restorative morning yoga classes, lounging by the pool in a private cabana, sunset bonfires, and DJ-led flotilla parties. Four-night Bahamas cruises, dubbed “Fire & Sunset Soirées,” will call in Nassau, followed by the Beach Club at Bimini, a signature event that includes restorative morning yoga classes, lounging by the pool in a private cabana, sunset bon

Five-night “Riviera Maya” cruises to Cozumel/Playa Del Carmen, “Mayan Sol” journeys to Costa Maya, Mexico, and “Dominican Daze” voyages to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic are among the other cruises available.
“After many years in the making, we are delighted to formally launch Scarlet Lady and invite Sailors in the United States onboard for a memorable experience,” says Tom McAlpin, President and CEO of Virgin Voyages. Our goal is to offer a refined, but casual, adult-only experience — devoid of formality, where ordinary becomes exceptional — with Michelin-starred cuisine, fantastic spa, phenomenal onboard entertainment, and amazing staff. “This is known as ‘Setting Sail the Virgin Way.’”

Scarlet Lady
If you’re considering of taking a cruise aboard, there are a few things to keep in mind. Onboard Scarlet Lady, all passengers and staff members must be properly immunized. Children are not permitted on board since the yacht is for adults only.
In addition to the necessary vaccinations, all passengers must take a COVID-19 test before to embarking, which the cruise company will pay.
Virgin Voyages strives to provide the safest possible travel experience for its passengers, which includes extra sanitization, physical separation, restricted occupancy, and adhering to local government regulations in each location the cruise line visits.
Scarlet Lady was completed on February 13, 2020, by the Italian shipbuilders Fincantieri. The cruise ship, which has a gross tonnage of 110,000, can accommodate 2,770 guests and 1,160 staff members.
Three sister ships are in the works, one of which, Valiant Lady, will be cruising the Mediterranean this summer. Resilient Lady, the third ship, will be completed in August 2022, and the fourth ship will arrive in 2023.
The likelihood of cruises in 2021 is the question that everyone wants to know. Virgin Voyages has begun their first cruise from Miami, Florida with Scarlet Lady.
